No, no, I’m not doing another major project, I’m not collecting every single song that mentions gigantic or shrunken people (like The Tubes’ “Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman” or my “Possession”). That’s for someone else to attempt.

I’m just using this space to keep track of a few giantess-themed songs that align with my heathen Scandinavian studies, or stuff I’ve found that I like.

  1. Summoning the Giant – a þurs is a brutal, mindless giant
  2. Sacrifice for the Giant
  3. Names of the All-Father
  4. Hour of the Wolf – in legendary myth, giantesses ride wolves for transport and into battle

Adjacent Listening

I’m listing “Giantess for Piano and Flute” by Carter Pann, (Jennie Oh-Brown, flute; Carter Pann, piano), even though it doesn’t fit with the above. It’s a challenging piece to listen to but I think I see what he’s doing.

Below is a sample of what’s out there, people calling themselves “giantess,” singing about them … might take it down later. This isn’t stuff I’d meditate to or anything, conduct a ritual by. Some of it’s good on its own merit. No, I’m not including TMBG.

  1. Love that you had to include a disclaimer about TMBG!
Definitely checking these out! I’m currently trying to curate some music for a Halloween ritual, and these might be just what I’m looking for!
Thanks for all you do for the community!

  2. You’re a pillar of the community, man! Aaa, yes, the moon! We were just wondering how close we are to full moon! I don’t have any plans, but maybe I’ll just have to have an evening meditative sit outside and listen to the songs above! Sounds like a good time to me!
